Claire Huang to Head Up JPMorgan Chase Marketing

Claire Huang will head up marketing at JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank and sixth largest advertising spender in the US.

Claire Huang has been named chief marketing officer of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank and sixth largest advertising spender in the US.

She steps into a newly created position to oversee the separate marketing teams of the JPMorgan and the Chase brands. The company was formed by a 2000 merger of the two companies. Its $2.35 trillion in assets make it the biggest bank in the US.

Its $2.35 billion in total ad spending puts Huang atop the nation’s sixth biggest advertiser. Of the $648 million spent on brand advertising, $549 was spent on Chase and $99 million on JPMorgan.

Huang will leave her post as Bank of America’s chief of international marketing where she reported directly to global strategy and marketing officer Anne Finucane. Her former duties will be divided up among other executives. Prior to that she headed up marketing for BOA’s global wealth & investment management division since April 2008 where she led marketing to affluent, wealthy, ultra wealthy and institutional clients in the US.

Huang’s 26 years of corporate marketing and brand management experience includes stints as EVP of marketing and segment management for Fidelity Investments where she led client acquisition, retention and brand strategies and chaired its global marketing board.

Before that she was CMO of American Express Financial Advisors, and also held various marketing management posts at various consumer goods firms including Wise Foods, Inc., The Haagen-Dazs Co., Cadbury Schweppes and The Procter & Gamble Co.

Huang has been a Director of Association of National Advertisers Inc. since November 2009. She received a degree in economics from De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines.
