Korean Battery Picked for Chrysler Electric Car
By wchung | 07 Feb, 2025
SB LiMotive announced Sunday that it will supply the lithium-ion batteries that will power Chrysler’s Fiat 500 EV electric car scheduled for 2012 debut.
SB LiMotive is a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Germany’s Robert Bosch. The company will manufacture lithium-ion cells in a newly-built production line in Ulsan. The cells will be assembled together with a cooling system, safety device and a battery management system in Ohio by Cobasys, the U.S. subsidiary of SB LiMotive.
Chrysler is the third U.S. carmaker to have signed a Korean battery maker for its electric cars. Both GM and Ford had selected Korea’s LG Chem for their upcoming electric cars.
