Lou Ye's Spring Fever Catches Spotlight at Cannes

Lou Ye had to shoot Chun Feng Chen Zui De Ye Wan (Spring Fever) in secret because it violates China’s ban against depicting homosexual relations. It shows. The film is dimly lit and grainy. But its screening was enthusiastically attended by critics who were intrigued by its emotional power, generating talk of a Palme d’Or.
