Computer Glitch Halted Some Stock Trading on NYSE
A computer glitch that has halted trading on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange for more than 200 stocks is being resolved, the exchange says.
The disruption hit 242 stocks, including American Express Co., General Electric Co., Merck & Co. and Exxon Mobil Corp., but they continued to be traded electronically without disruption. About 3,100 stocks are traded at the NYSE.
The NYSE detected problems routing trading orders to the floor at 10:43 a.m. Eastern and said about an hour later that floor trading was halted in the affected stocks so technicians could install replacement computer equipment.
The NYSE said all affected stocks would be reopened on the floor.
