From Seoul with Glow: K-Beauty Skincare Regimen Revamps Beauty Practices
By Kelli Luu | 07 Apr, 2025

Say goodbye to your old beauty routine and claim your title to Asian beauty magic.

Until boarding the K-beauty train I never believed a 7-step routine would completely revitalize my skin.  Yes, 7-steps.  Achieving perfect glass skin takes time but I think you’ll discover, as I did, that it’s well worth the effort.

When the Korean Wave hit the U.S. during the mid-2010s, the Western world took notice of the clear, ultra-smooth skin on K-Pop stars and learned that glass skin had long been the beauty standard in Korea.  American beauty influencers jumped on board and began sharing their multi-step routines, winning over viewers with the promise of flawless, dewy skin.

K-beauty has revamped our cosmetic bags with new formulas that are key to skin perfection. You may have heard of hyaluronic acid, the active ingredient in Korean moisturizers and serums, valued for its hydrating power.

Several American beauty brands have added hyaluronic acid into their products, beginning with Fenty Beauty and e.l.f Cosmetics in 2019.  From its best-selling Power Grip Primer to the refreshing Glow Dewy Mist Setting Spray, e.l.f has created affordable products that make it easier to achieve glass skin.

e.l.f Cosmetics has introduced a line of affordable products to facilitate glass skin, including Power Grip Primer and  Glow Dewy Mist Setting Spray.

The quest for glass skin has also introduced the Korean Day Spa or Jjimjilbang as an important component of the glass skin beauty regimen.  Korean spas happened to dovetail with recent self-care and wellness trends embraced by Americans and they became the perfect place to put your feet up and promote the relaxation and blood-flow that contribute to that glow.

The best part?  Korean spas are open all hours of the day, making rejuvenation a timeless pursuit, literally.

What makes Jjimjilbang different from the usual American spa?  It transports you to an oasis that offers unique ways to revitalizate and detoxify.  Your Korean spa visit promotes skin health with herbal saunas, personalized scrub stations and scalp massages, among other services.

Korean spas offer treatments to promote relaxation and blood flow which produce the glow underlying the glass skin look.

All the Asian-American beauty influencers sharing their tips and insights are making glass skin and other K-beauty concepts the new norm in the U.S.  We now also have access to advanced products at our fingertips, making it easy to glow up and get carried off on the K-beauty wave!
