LG Chem Adds Mitsubishi Motors As Battery Client
Mitsubishi Motors became the latest automaker to sign Korea’s LG Chem as the battery supplier for its upcoming electric and hybrid vehicles, reports Chosun Ilbo. Mitsubishi is Japan’s no. 7 carmaker.
The pact contemplates, among other projects, a technique for installing power control and crash safety devices on LG Chem’s lithium-ion batteries. The new batteries are expected to be used for electric vehicles Mitsubishi plans for 2012 and new plug-in hybrids slated for 2013.
Ford, GM, Volvo and China’s Changan Automobile signed similar deals with LG Chem beginning late last year.
