Keanu Reeves' impressive filmography, featuring The Matrix, John Wick, and earlier classics, underscores his lasting impact and continued relevance in Hollywood.
Keanu Reeves, 60, became a mainstream action icon playing Neo in the 1999 sci-fi film, The Matrix. The initial trilogy included 2 films released 6 months apart in 2003, which combined for a gross box office total of $1.6 billion. Reeves reportedly earned more than $250 million starring in the franchise.
Reeves plays the title role in the John Wick franchise, comprising 4 films that have grossed over $1 billion. Lionsgate has announced that a 5th film is in development.
Reeves’ breakout movie is the 1989 comedy Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, which led to two sequels. He established himself as an action hero with leading roles in Point Break (1991) and Speed (1994), the latter of which earned over $350 million, about $800 million in 2025 dollars.
Reeves’ directorial debut, and sole project to date, is the 2013 martial arts film, Man of Tai Chi, in which he also starred.
Reeves was born in Beirut and raised in Toronto. His paternal grandmother is of Chinese Hawaiian descent.
