A month before the June 10 date set for completion of his mandatory service in the Korean military BTS leader RM has teamed up with Tablo to score a top spot on US rap charts with "Stop the Rain".
The song about a painful boyhood debuted this week at the top of the US-only Billboard Rap Digital Song Sales chart and at no. 4 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart by selling 3,500 digital downloads. These modest sales have a big impact on chart rankings but the big money for BTS comes from the grueling schedule of global concerts which is likely to resume a few months following the reunion.
On the Billboard Global 200 list excluding the US the RM-Tablo collaboration opened at 116. On the chart that includes the US it fell to no. 178.
At the moment only two of seven BTS members have officially completed their military service. Service end dates are June 10 for RM and V, June 11 for Jimin and Jungkook, and June 21 for Suga. The early releasees have been pursuing solo numbers and appearances while awaiting the full group's reunion.
